"Preservation turns memories and tastes into a diary."

The salty fragrance in the jar is a snapshot of the four season.
The laughter and song of the elders are awakened by the warm fragrance of fermented rice.
The sharing of meat by firelight embodies family bonds and blessings.

Curing, fermentation, smoking, and drying are all pens of time.
Seasons and thoughts are written down in the lexicon of the tastebud.
Preservation is how culture is sustained in everyday life, and remembered through sharing.

The bundles of millet hung under the eaves to dry capture the tribespeople’s bond with traditional crops.
The Bunun painted calendar, based on the life cycle of millet, serves as a record of the tribespeople’s life experiences.
The traditional choir practice held every Monday imbues everyday life with culture and holds the community together.

Preservation is the continuation of culture in modernity. This year, the dining table at Kamcing Community transforms “millet husk” waste into marinated husks with new purpose. Savor the sourness, sweetness, and saltiness of life through the fragrant marinated millet husks at Kamcing Community.

Kamcing Micro-Theatre

Under the cover of the night, beside the flickering fire, accompanied by the melodic songs, the micro-theatre quietly begins. Thud! Thud! The booming, resonant sound of women pounding and sifting millet strikes deep into people’s hearts. Each strike expresses gratitude to Mother Nature, and every moment silently awaits the hunter’s return.
Suddenly, the messenger’s song rings in the ears, signaling the triumphant return of the hunter with his catch. Together, they share the joys of a bountiful harvest. The pure moonlight pours down, casting light on the focused expressions and the tribe’s everyday life, as it has always been.
